The doctoral program in Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Strategy is dedicated to cultivating high-caliber academic talents in the field of innovation, entrepreneurship and strategic management.

The Department of Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Strategy was established in 2013 after a reorganization of the former Department of Innovation and Entrepreneurship and the former Department of Corporate Strategy and Policy. The former Department of Innovation and Entrepreneurship was founded in 1979 and was one of the first doctoral programs in China. The former Department of Business Strategy and Policy was one of the three units separated from the original Department of Corporate Administration in June 2004.

Research Areas

Innovation: innovation strategy, innovations in small and medium-sized enterprises, intellectual property strategy, knowledge management, digital innovation, technology platforms, technological catch-up and technology learning, national/industrial/regional innovation systems, and science and technology policy.

Entrepreneurship: technology-based entrepreneurship, venture capital management, firm growth, regional entrepreneurship systems and policies, entrepreneurs, and Chinese entrepreneurship studies.

Strategy: corporate strategy, competition and cooperation, corporate capabilities, organizational learning, strategic alliances, mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance, international business, multinational corporations, and corporate social responsibility.

Faculty

Currently, our department has 23 full-time faculty members and two distinguished visiting professors. All faculty members have overseas study experience and publish extensively in the top journals of their fields. We encourage doctoral students to collaborate with our faculty.

Placements

Most of our doctoral graduates continue their academic careers at well-known universities and research institutes in China or abroad, including such locations as Tsinghua University, Peking University, Fudan University, Renmin University, and Melbourne University.
